January favourites - Preferiti di gennaio

Morning All,

I was playing around with my monthly favourites this morning and I came out with a sort of '60-'70

inspired look... very easy and great to brighten up my face during these gloomy winter days!

questa mattina mi sono messa e perdere un po' di tempo con i prodotti che lo scorso mese mi hanno "rallegrato" tutte le mattine ed ecco un trucco anni '70, palpebra luminosa e crease molto intensa, labbra e guance color pesca e un po' di illuminante sugli zigomi... perfetto per dare un po' di luce a questo lungo e buio inverno!

On a daily basis I wear glasses and I find that a look like this frames my eyes and does't look too heavy.. I have never been a fan of eyeliner along the bottom lash line, but the 17 Doll'd up one is a different story and it really is a great product!

Indossando gli occhiali tutti i giorni ho notato che un trucco come questo definisce i miei occhi ma non sembra affatto pesante... Ho sempre pensato che l'eyeliner lungo la linea delle ciglia inferiori fosse un po' troppo "innaturale" ma questo 3-way di 17 è tutta un'altra storia!

Hi All,

I would like to share with you a small present I did myself (sometimes we really deserve to reward ourselfs, don't we?): I am happy to introduce you to my Urban Decay Naked Basics palette and my Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. 

I am super thrilled of my purchases and although I have been using these 2 products only for 3 days, 

I am already in love with then!

The Revlon Lip Butter has been around for ages and I am sure most of you know how silky and moisturising it is, but let's talk about the Basics palette for a moment:

it's a compact little palette in an elegant packaging, perfect for everyone who is looking for good quality basic colours to use for everyday looks or, combined with some shimmer, to rock the night ones.

Sono estremamente soddisfatta dei miei acquisti e sebbene li stia usando solo da 3 giorni, me ne sono già innamorata! 

Il lip butter di Revlon lo conoscete bene e sono sicura che la maggior parte di voi abbia già avuto la possibilità di assaporarne la morbidezza e apprezzarne l'effetto idratante, allora... parliamo un attimo della palette Basics: è una palettina compatta racchiusa in un elegante packaging e perfetta per chiunque sia alla ricerca di colori base da utilizzare tutti i giorni o, combinati con un po' di shimmer, per un trucco 

da sera.

I am back again with a review and this time is about the twins 

Chubby Stick by Clinique and Just Bitten Kissable by Revlon here posing together in the picture...

sono di nuovo qui con  una review e questa volta volevo parlarvi dei balsami labbra colorati che stanno spundando come funghi negli espositori delle varie marche cosmetiche. Io ne ho provati 2 e in particolare il Chubby Stick di Clinique e il Just Bitten Kissable della Revlon qui ritratti in una foto di gruppo...

revlon just bitten kissable in 010 - darling cherie - 7.99£: it's a lipbalm/tint in one and it is actually a good product, just in between the two categories. It has a slight minty flavour and goes smooth on the lips but I have to say that it doesn't have the staying power of a lip tint, at least the light shade I have.

clinique chubby stick in 06 woppin'watermelon - 15£: it is a very good lip balm and it really does what it says on the tin, colour and hydration. 

I have to say that I love both of them, especially for the balm&colour feature but not for the tint attempt of the Revlon one. The colour range is slightly different but the 2 brands can be combined to create the most amazing variety: Clinque tends to have a sheerer payoff while Revlon has amazing deep shades.

All in all I would repurchase Revlon for the good value of the product but Clinique for the feel on the lips, the colour and the effect of healthy and natural look that gives to my lips.

revlon just bitten kissable in 010 - darling cherie - Euro 12.10: è un matitone colorato per le labbra con un leggero sapore di menta, descritto come balsamo/tinta... di solito le tinte non sono molto idratanti ma hanno una buona tenuta e questo, in teoria dovrebbe combinare entrambe le cose. A mio parere, la verità è sempre nel mezzo e quindi direi che questo matitone ha sicuramente un buon effetto idratante e 

una buona tenuta ma certo non come una tinta!

clinique chubby stick in 06 woppin'watermelon - euro 17.00: anche questo è un matitone per le labbra che funge da balsamo colorato e qui sono d'accordo al 100%. Ottimo prodotto e bellissimo colore.

I due prodotti, oltre ad avere una leggera differenza di prezzo (in UK il matitone Revlon costa 8£ e il Chubby Stick ben 15£!),  sono molto simili: entrambi idratanti e con una buona tenuta. Il matitone di Clinique è un balsamo labbra colorato e does what it says on the tin, buona varietà di colori, morbido sulle labbra e leggermente lucido. Il matitone di Revlon ha una colorazione più intensa e la varietà dei colori tende a tonalità più scure, è leggermente meno idratante di quello Clinique e lo ritengo buono più un balsamo colorato che una tinta

 (le tinte per labbra non sono comunque il mio forte...). 

Direi che mi piacciono entrambi parecchio e riguardo il colour range quasi si complementano l'un l'altro! Il conclusione direi che per il rapporto qualità/prezzo - soprattutto in £ - ricomprerei quello Revlon perchè i due matitoni sono veramente moltooo simili (Il Chubby Stick ha la consistenza di un burro di cacao quindi durerà lo stesso tempo di un Labello!). Mentre, se parliamo di caratteristiche specifiche del prodotto preferisco quello di Clinique che risulta vellutato e morbido e dona un aspetto estremamente sano e naturale alle labbra.

turquoise smokey eye look - uno smokey facile e veloce

Happy Sunday everyone!

a few days ago I was watching one of Clio Makeup's videos - Makeup tutorial Trucco Smoky Facile e Sexy solo con 1 colore - and I thought that it was a good idea to adapt her amazing and deep smokey eye look to something more suitable to my style and my eye shape... in the end I came out with something different but still smokey and with one main eyeshadow colour.

The first thing is to start with the eye makeup and leave the rest of the face for later in order to avoid to mess up your foundation with the dark eyeshadow..

I started by applying some concealer on my lid instead of a primer and then I layered the Plumage e/s, starting from the centre of the lid upwards keeping the colour above the crease. Then I applied the Maybelline eyeliner along the lower lash line up to the outer corner and Revlon Navy eyeliner along the upper lash line to intensify the base of the lashes. I noticed that using the concealer as a base allows a great staying power but it actually makes the eyeshadow a bit difficult to blend so I had to apply Mac Phone Number Kohl pencil on the lid and because it is a very soft pencil, it really helped me to get a very uniform and intense colour. 

I know that Clio actually used only one colour but I felt the need to add something extra and I lightly blended the Pupa Natural Eyes in no.03 -  in the crease in order to have a softer conjunction with the thin layer of Pupa Luminys Silk used as brow bone highlighter. Last but not least is mascara, applied only on the upper lashes, pink blush on the cheeks and a pale pink lipgloss on the lips...This is actually a very easy look to achieve and can be done playing with different combination of colours: my tip is to have a q-tip soaked with eye makeup remover and shape the eyeshadow as you prefer: it will give you clean, sharp edges that are very easy to soften with a flesh-toned eyeshadow!

Qualche giorno fa guardavo il video di Clio's video - Makeup tutorial Trucco Smoky Facile e Sexy solo con 1 colore- e mi è venuta l'idea di modificare il suo bellissimo smokey e creare qualcosa più adatto al mio taglio di occhi e al mio stile... il risultato finale è uno smokey bicolore molto sfumato verso l'esterno, adatto soprattutto per chi ha gli occhi piccoli perché la matita chiara delinea l'occhio senza rimpicciolirlo ulteriormente... 

 

Prima di tutto vi consiglio di dedicarvi al trucco occhi e poi pensare alla base visto che useremo un ombretto scuro e certo non vogliamo proprio che i pigmenti si mischino al correttore o al fondotinta... Ho applicato una leggera base di correttore su tutta la palpebra e iniziato ad applicare l'ombretto Plumage di Mac - diciamo un paio di strati - senza preoccuparmi troppo dei bordi... ho proseguito delineando la parte inferiore con la matita turchese Maybelline lungo la linea inferiore delle ciglia e quella blu scuro di Revlon lungo la linea superiore, per intensificare la base delle ciglia. Ho inoltre notato che utilizzare il correttore come base è ottimo per la durata dell’ombretto, ma rende la sfumatura un po’ difficoltosa e quindi ho dovuto ritoccare l’ombretto con un po’ di Mac Kohl in Phone Number, sfumandoli insieme. Per rendere più uniforme la transizione tra palpebra mobile e palpebra fissa, ho poi sfumato il tutto con Pupa Natural Eyes no. 03 e aggiunto un po' di luce sotto l'arcata sopraccigliare con Pupa Luminys Silk no. 200... una passata si mascara solo sulle ciglia superiori, un pizzico di blush rosa e un po' di gloss rosa pallido e il gioco è fatto!

Il mio consiglio è quello di stendere l'ombretto scuro e poi delineare la forma che desideriamo utilizzando un cotton fioc imbevuto di struccante e poi sfumare i bordi con l'ombretto color carne o marrone chiaro: questo ci permette di creare facilmente il bellissimo ed elegante effetto cat eye!

Everyday or simple holiday look

Good morning my Dears, 

I have been to Canterbury for the Jubilee bank holiday weekend and strangely enough I put in my beauty bag only a few items and I went for a natural make up that could be perfect for work too!

Scarf... I know... but this is the English summer!

When I am on holiday or just out for the day, I don't want to worry about touch-ups, lipstick moving around and shiny nose, so I tend to do a good base with Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution Foundation, 

Garnier Roll-on (here is my review link), Mac Studio Finish Concealer for around the nose and chin and a generous dust of powder. At the moment I am using up my Body Shop Mineral Powder (here is the link for my project 10 pan link) and I have to say that I am really enjoying it: it blends perfectly and doesn't look caky at all, it is also great for the under eye area to keep the concealer in place and add extra coverage.

Then for the eyes I always carry with me a multi-tasking palette, good for day and night: this is a Clinique Palette that I received for free a while ago when purchasing the foundation and has a shimmery champagne colour to use as highlighter and all over the lid, a darker warm brown with a pink undertone, great for the crease and lastly a dark reddish brown to use as eyeliner 

and along the lower lash line instead of the pencil, to define the eyes.

Of course I cannot go without mascara, this is the Maybelline Volum' and a coat of brow gel, this is the cheap and mighty Miss Sporty Clear Mascara that feels like nothing but works magic on my brows!

Lastly the pink corner: Maybelline Mineral Blusher (no.10) applied with my Real Techniques Blush Brush and the amazing Revlon Colour Burst lipgloss in Crystal Lilac on my lips. 

This look is simple, long lasting and make me feel confident throughout the day!

OOTD - lazy Saturday in grey and pink

yesterday, before going out I just took a few pictures of my outfit & makeup...

hold the breath and here you go!

and for the makeup...

 This is my make up... sorry I can share only half of my face because the other half is swollen and sore after a very bad toothache.

As a base I used all the products - foundation, concealer, powder, blusher - as featured in my project 10 pan post, link, and on the eyes I used the Body Shop's sparkling mineral eye-shadow in no. 2, a lovely olive/grey colour with gold sparkle (in my opinion it has something in common with the amazing Club eyeshadow by Mac), Pink Freeze by Mac as highlight and Revlon eyeliner in Navy on the waterline.
On the Lips I used the beautiful Revlon Colourburst in Strawberry which is a great lip gloss, not too sticky with good staying power and colour pay off. I adore Revlon Lip glosses because in my opinion they perform as good as more expensive lip glosses and come in a good variety of colours.
Of course I chose to wear this lip colour to match my shoes and nails :-)))

p.s. please do not look at my brows because I am trying to let them grow and reshape afterwards!

My 5 May favourites

this is that time of the month when I share with you my monthly favorites.. as you know I love to keep things simple so I restrict myself to chose only 5 dear fellas.

here you go! 

Bioderma  Creoline H2O - makeup remover -- there have been a lot of hype about it and I have to say that it's for a good reason. It feels like water on the skin but works magic on any kind of makeup, even the Clinique High Impact Curling Lash mascara, which is as tough as a waterproof mascara and I can take it off only with warm water and oil based makeup removers. The only downside is that it is only available online and I am still looking for a good website to buy some back-ups!

Skin Doctors Ingrow Go - ingrown hair solution -- I have been looking for a good product to fight the in-grows for ages and doing some research online I came across this solution and thank God I haven't been put off by the bad reviews! I purchased mine on Amazon.co.uk for the price of 8£ (including shipping) and I am surprised by the results! I just use a few drops on a cotton pad and dab it where I need it (bikini area), it dries instantly and after a couple days of using it I was able to notice some improvements. There are a few things to take into consideration though:

the smell can be strong for very sensitive persons and personally I prefer to use it once a day before bed so I can let it evaporate completely before wearing pijamas; it dries the skin a little bit so it is better to use a good moisturiser in the morning, after the shower. It can also be used on the face by men who suffer from ingrown hair after shaving. 

Mac Studio Finish Concealer: one of my favourite concealers, I just warm it up with my fingers and apply to sports and darker shadows on my face and in the under eye area. I love it especially in the summer because it has SPF 35 and when I don't want to use foundation, I just put some of it where I need it and I am ready to go!.. a quick note to say that it can crease if used as under eye concealer to anyone with dry skin. 

Revlon Colourburst Lipgloss in Crystal Lilac: love love love!! the perfect pink lipgloss ever... and I always get compliments when I wear it!

Mac Eye Kohl Pencil in Phone Number: this is my last purchase before the project 10 pan challenge. Perfect for everyone who's bored of wearing black eyeliner, it's creamy and intense with the edgy grayish/blue undertone.

My 5 April Favourites

I hope you are all well!
I have been away for a few days and I am back to share with you my 5 favourites for April. These are the 5 items that I have been enjoying using the most, expecially when I get ready in the morning counting the minutes on the clock! As you can see I go very often for natural looks that still have colour and definition :-))

Maybelline Cream Blush no. 2 -- very sheer cream blush, easy to apply and smooth on the skin. It looks very natural and has a light glow finish. I think this can suits all skin colours and will be great on tanned skins!
Wet'n'Wild palette for eyebrow –I know it is not easy to find this product but it has been an amazing discovery for 1£! The palette comes with 2 matte shades for the brows, with greyish undertones, that mixed together match my eyebrow colours and make them look defined and natural… I love the eyeshadows too, but this is another story!
Mac Brush from the Define&Blend set– this tiny little brush is part of a travel set and I love using it to apply the eyebrow powder because it has very stiff bristles and I can be very precise!
Naked Palette -- of course I had to include it in my monthly favourite!!! if you still don't know why, have a look at my 7 day marathon!
Revlon Lipstick in Solf Rose  -- this is a very nice colour that makes my lips look natural but with character and I have to say this it is not drying at all... I read somewhere that it's a dupe for Rouge Coco Madamoiselle, tres chic!

Blooming Spring in Coral...

Hello My Dears,

this is my coral option of a spring look, an easy daytime makeup for a nice aperitivo on the beach on a Sunday morning.. I think the combination of colours creates a good balance between lips and eyes and the coral cheeks define and sculpt the face in a soft way.

 

I used the lightest shade from Mac This&That eyeshadow duo all over the lid and then I shaped my eyes with a cramberry shade, Kiko eyeshadow no. 137, blending the colour outward and along the lower lash line. On the cheeks I used Mac Sunbasque which is a coral blush with a light shimmer finish. Same colour family for the lips using a nice coral, Revlon matte lipstick in Pink about it.
