I am happy to say that using these products every day made me understand  even better how good they are and I am particularly surprised with the Body Shop Face Powder.

This product is great to set foundation and concealer and I can assure you that it doesn't look caky at all!

My Wedding Makeup Look

Hello my Dears,

today I was looking at my wedding pictures so I thought it was a good idea to share with you some of them and write something about my make-up look for that day! 

We got married last year in April and we were so lucky to choose the last sunny and warm day of 2011 here in the UK!

 Let's go back to business... First of all I would like to say that I decided to do my own make up because I wanted something to feel confident with all day (it sound like a pantyliners advert hihihihihi) and have the possibility to chose the colours and textures that I knew would suit me better!

I started with some researches online and nowadays you can find plenty of tutorials and information about bridal looks so it is just a matter of taking notes, try, test and experiment new things!

My suggestion is to plan ahead and test everything you want to use at least a week before the wedding day and, when you are happy with your choice, just do your make you 2-3 times before the big day to get the right confidence and see how it wears throughout the day... you can also take a few pictures and see by yourself  how it shows when the flash hits you face... And this is exactly what I did!

Let's make a start then!

 The most important thing is the base and the way the face is concealed, contoured and highlighted!


First of all, I started with a face primer and I chose Pixi Flawless and Poreless: I applied a thin layer in the centre of my face and where my open pores are to smooth everything out, then the foundation only where I needed (especially the centre of my face and chin) bending down the neck to have an even colour. Last but not least, I applied some concealer under my eyes, dabbing it lightly with my fingers and paying attention to smooth it properly and don't let it set in the lines... also known as wrinkles... 
To set everything in place I dusted some Mac Mineralize Skin Finish in Natural especially where I get shinier... I love this powder because it has a very natural finish and the natural 
glowiness of the skin shows through! 
In my opinion it is important to allow 5 to 10 minutes between each step because it means that your skin has the time to absorb each product and it guarantees a better staying power!


To contour my face I added a tiny bit of bronzer and for my eyes, Elf  eyeprimer to keep my 
eyeshadow in place!
I also used the Mac Prep+Prime Eyelash Primer and my beloved Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara: this is a great combo to achieve long, thick and well separated lashes! The primer is enriched with fibres that provide longer and fuller lashes while the Mascara wand is great to keep them separated.

And now the eyes....

I wanted to combine the colours that, I think, suits me better and so I chose to wear a light lilacky colour all over the lid blended in the crease with a dark reddish brown. I then lined my eyes with a dark purple, blending a tiny little bit of the same colour in the outer corner of the eye to add a hint of depth. 
For the lower lash line I mixed the dark brown used in the crease and a lighter, more coppery shade 
to add some warmth to the look (both by Body Shop). 

I loved the combination of these eyeshadows and it really complemented my green eyes and made them pop without being too intrusive or strong.

And then the final touches...

For my cheeks I chose Fleur Power by Mac, a rosy/peachy blush with no shimmer, a tiny bit of highlighter on the cheek bone and brow bone and the perfect nude lipstick for my lips, Mac Viva Glam II that it's not only a great lipstick, but it also has a divine vanilla flavour!

soft pink & burgundy look - trucco rosa e bordeaux

Hello my Dears,

today is all about pink and burgundy for an easy yet eye-catching look that  works magic with green eyes but it is a great look for blue and brown eyes too.

I started by priming my eye lid with Urban Decay Primer Potion and dust a generous amount of Yogurt by Mac -a soft matte pink- all over the lid bringing it up to the brow bone. Then I contoured my eyes with Pupa pencil Multiplay no. 06 drawing a thick line along the upper lash line and a thinner line along the lower lash line. With a pencil brush I then smudge it adding some Sketch eye shadow to keep the pencil in place and add a darker hint to the pencil.. this is because I noticed that if I use only the pencil, its reddish undertone makes me look too tired and adding the eye shadow, which has a brownish undertone, gives a cooler and less "tiring" tone to the colour. To finish off I used pink Freeze as highlighter under the brow bone, a bit of bronzer and the beautiful Shy Girl lipstick by Mac on the lips.

  For this look I also used Mac eyelash primer which is a white mascara with fibers in it, to be used to coat the lashes before applying the mascara: in my opinion this product is worth the 10£ price tag and last a long time (I got mine for my wedding last year!), it is very easy to use, adding volume and curliness (is it a word!?!?!) to the lashes.

Perfect makeup look for work or a day of shopping, easy, intense but still subtle, all at the same time!

Everyday or simple holiday look

Good morning my Dears, 

I have been to Canterbury for the Jubilee bank holiday weekend and strangely enough I put in my beauty bag only a few items and I went for a natural make up that could be perfect for work too!

Scarf... I know... but this is the English summer!

When I am on holiday or just out for the day, I don't want to worry about touch-ups, lipstick moving around and shiny nose, so I tend to do a good base with Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution Foundation, 

Garnier Roll-on (here is my review link), Mac Studio Finish Concealer for around the nose and chin and a generous dust of powder. At the moment I am using up my Body Shop Mineral Powder (here is the link for my project 10 pan link) and I have to say that I am really enjoying it: it blends perfectly and doesn't look caky at all, it is also great for the under eye area to keep the concealer in place and add extra coverage.

Then for the eyes I always carry with me a multi-tasking palette, good for day and night: this is a Clinique Palette that I received for free a while ago when purchasing the foundation and has a shimmery champagne colour to use as highlighter and all over the lid, a darker warm brown with a pink undertone, great for the crease and lastly a dark reddish brown to use as eyeliner 

and along the lower lash line instead of the pencil, to define the eyes.

Of course I cannot go without mascara, this is the Maybelline Volum' and a coat of brow gel, this is the cheap and mighty Miss Sporty Clear Mascara that feels like nothing but works magic on my brows!

Lastly the pink corner: Maybelline Mineral Blusher (no.10) applied with my Real Techniques Blush Brush and the amazing Revlon Colour Burst lipgloss in Crystal Lilac on my lips. 

This look is simple, long lasting and make me feel confident throughout the day!

OOTD - lazy Saturday in grey and pink

yesterday, before going out I just took a few pictures of my outfit & makeup...

hold the breath and here you go!

and for the makeup...

 This is my make up... sorry I can share only half of my face because the other half is swollen and sore after a very bad toothache.

As a base I used all the products - foundation, concealer, powder, blusher - as featured in my project 10 pan post, link, and on the eyes I used the Body Shop's sparkling mineral eye-shadow in no. 2, a lovely olive/grey colour with gold sparkle (in my opinion it has something in common with the amazing Club eyeshadow by Mac), Pink Freeze by Mac as highlight and Revlon eyeliner in Navy on the waterline.
On the Lips I used the beautiful Revlon Colourburst in Strawberry which is a great lip gloss, not too sticky with good staying power and colour pay off. I adore Revlon Lip glosses because in my opinion they perform as good as more expensive lip glosses and come in a good variety of colours.
Of course I chose to wear this lip colour to match my shoes and nails :-)))

p.s. please do not look at my brows because I am trying to let them grow and reshape afterwards!

my project 10 pan - updates

Hello my Dears,

a few days in the  project 10 pan link and I am happy to have started it! 

First of all the products I have chosen can create a complete look so I am less tempted to browse in my collection and I stick to finishing them, also in the morning is quicker to get ready because I keep all in one pouch and I feel motivated to go on with it... 

I know it is sad to say that I need motivation but that's the way it is! 

This is the look... 

Face: Bourjois foundation, Clinique concealer under the eyes and Mac around the nose and lips, Body Shop Loose Powder to set all in place - p.s. I kind of forgot how good this powder was, not cakey and gives a good coverage too!

Eyes: Mac Paint Pot in Painterly as a base and Mac Naked Pigment all over the lid (the only 2 items not in the project) Maybelline Blush blended in the crease, Rimmel Eye Pencil along the waterline and on the outer corner and plenty of  L'Oreal mascara.

Project 10 Pan

Hello Everyone,

this morning I was taking some pictures for a new post on my travel bag and I was kind of shocked to see the amount of make up I have... and obviously I also realized that the one in the picture was just a small amount for a weekend away!

It is time to use something up before I even dare to go to Mac, Boots or anywhere else 

that sells makeup again!

This is my project 10 pans and no cheating, no mistakes, no weakness, no temptations 

are allowed!!

My empties...

Hello Ladies,

the end of the month is here and I wanted to share with you what I have been using and most importantly what I have been using up.

First of all are all the face and body moisturizers

 

E45 Itch Relief Cream - I use this cream in the driest part of my body, especially on my elbows and I find it very good for the price, 3.95£ at Boots.

Lacura Hand Cream - this is an amazing product for the price, 0.75£ at Aldi's.

Vaseline Lotion- I bought this moisturizer while I was in NYC last year because I forgot my body cream and I must say that I quite enjoyed it, available at Boots for 1.70£.

Body Shop's Body Butters - I have been using these body butters for ages and they always do the trick: I love the smell, I love the consistency, I love the results, big or small sizes, they are just great!

Olay Daily Moisturizer - I have been using this moisturizer for 4 years now, and even if I would like to try something else, I always go back to this: it is a light cream with a nice and fresh smell, amazing price and SPF 15 for daily protection! At boots  for 5.99 (or superdrug where they always have offers).

Cuticule Oil: this is just a random purchase at Sally's beauty supply and it is very good and not sticky, 1.90£.

Origins Eye Cream: this is a great product, not too heavy but still soften wrinkles and gives luminosity to the eye area. It retails for around 20£ but lasts at least 4-5 months.

 

Clarins Toner: I am not a Toner person and I started using this product because it was in a value pack with the makeup remover. This lotion gives me the impression of tightening pores and doesn't dry my skin, good smell and good price if bought together with the cleanser (20£ cleanser+toner+small eye makeup remover and very nice pochette)

Neutrogina Visible Clear Face Wash and Daily Scrub - amazing products that clean the face leaving a fresh sensation to the skin. I know that in the picture the face wash doens't look so empty, but this is the second bottle and I really wanted to include it here. Available at Boots often on offer 2 for 5£.

Body Shop Oat&Honey Mask - this is my favourite mask and after using it, I often get complimnts on my skin!

Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish gel: this is the perfect weapon to kill the random spot! 

Mac Face&Body Foundation: I bought this foundation a year ago for my wedding and this is just great for a light to medium coverage. Somebody complains about the smell, but I kinda like it.. for me smells of pine tree and woods. 25£ for an amazing 120ml that will last you forever!

Elf Complexion Perfection face powder: this is a very good face powder, it mattifies the skin and doesn't look cakey at all. this is a bargain for 3.50 at ELF cosmetics.

Maybelline Stick Concealer: this is a good concealer for blemishes and spots, too drying for my undereye area though.
